61st Ljubljana Festival

At a press conference at Ljubljana City Hall, Festival Ljubljana announced the programme for the 61st Ljubljana Festival, which runs from 27 June to 10 September 2013.

The internationally renowned 61st Ljubljana Festival opens in Congress Square on 27 June with a project that brings together artists and the arts; the very next day the same venue plays host to the 2Cellos, currently the most popular and sought-after duo.

That the Ljubljana Festival is once again the centre of your summer adventures, as the new slogan says, will be, until 10 September, in the hands of various outstanding artists, such as Béjart Ballet, the Gewandhaus Leipzig Orchestra with conductor Riccardo Chailly, the Mariinsky Theatre from St Petersburg with conductor Valery Gergiev, Russian choreographer Boris Eifman and his eponymous ballet ensemble, outstanding performers from London’s West End, Buena Vista Social Club with Omara Portuondo and many others.

The introduction to the traditional press conference with Honorary Patron Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković and representatives from Ljubljana Festival 2013 sponsors was the opening of the 61st LF info point in the centre of the capital. Mayor Zoran Janković and Director and Artistic Head of the Ljubljana Festival Darko Brlek cut the tape in front of premises at Mestni trg 17 in which you will be able to buy tickets, find information and souvenirs of the 61st Ljubljana Festival as well as tickets sold under the Eventim system and general information about Ljubljana.

The programme of the 61st Ljubljana Festival, with a central theme commemorating the 200th anniversaries of the births of two musical giants, Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, with focus on the culture of Russia, is available on the Ljubljana festival website.
