70 years of partisan choir 1944–2014
The documentary exhibition "70 Years of Partisan Choir 1944–2014" will be on display until 31 May 2014 at the Central Atrium of the City Hall.
Seventeen disabled fighters have founded a Choir of Disabled on 21 April 1944 at the partisan hospital at Planina, Bela Krajina. The choir was something unique in Europe at war. Later it was renamed into Partisan Disabled Choir and then the Partisan Choir.
The participants have been going and coming, the older left the choir, while the young joined – their spirit remains similar to those of the first singers, the disabled and injured. The choir members have spent a great amount of time together: at rehearsals, stages, joyous and sad events. The Choir never forgets the meaning of the partisan songs, which were kept alive by the choir, and consequently on magnetic tapes, cassettes, records, and as live heritage passed from generation to generation.
The exhibition is a chronological presentation of the 70 years of activity with a selection of photography, most important awards, recognition and gifts, received on the Choir's many concerts at home and abroad. The Partisan Choir has permanently given their rich archives to the Bela Krajina Museum in Metlika.
On Thursday, 15 May, the exhibition was solemnly addressed by Mayor Zoran Janković. The Partisan Choir performed at the opening under Franc Gornik. On this occasion the singers were presented with the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia recognition awards.
You are cordially invited to visit the memories of 70 years, beginning at Planina Pod Mirno Goro in Bela Krajina.
