A permanent measure of the European Mobility Week: we designed special pedestrian crossings near Špica

For the 22nd consecutive year, the City of Ljubljana is participating in the European Mobility Week, the biggest international campaign for the promotion of sustainable mobility, which is held every year between 16 and 22 September.

Among the permanent measures we are introducing within the framework of this year's campaign is painting special creative crossings for pedestrians near Špica.

We support drawing attention to social issues

In cooperation with the Slovene Philanthropy and bold.group, we have painted three creatively designed pedestrian crossings near Špica at the intersection of the streets Privoz and Prule. Their special feature is an unusual shape, as the designers arranged them as a spiral, an unrolled ribbon and a »collapsed« bridge. In this way, the Slovene Philanthropy, the project's initiator, points out that crossings and migrations are part of our everyday lives, even if we may not be aware of it. »On the way to work or across the street, as 'daily migrants' we often think about what obstacles we encountered, which in most cases are incomparable to the unpredictability faced by migrants globally.« The purpose of the awareness campaign is also explained on a sign set up nearby.
Ljubljana is a comradely, tolerant and solidary city where different people live together with mutual respect, that is why we support the campaign of the Slovene Philanthropy, which creatively highlights the issues of migration, which are very relevant these days.
