On 11 November 2019, Mayor Zoran Janković signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of culture with the City of Chemnitz. With it both cities expressed their support of the candidacy for the title European Capital of Culture 2025.

Mutual support for ECC 2025

In the document we agreed that Ljubljana and Chemnitz are going to cooperate and support the candidacy of both cities for the title European Capital of Culture 2025, especially by planning joint cultural projects within the framework of European Capital of Culture 2025 cultural programmes.
Working groups Ljubljana2025 and Chemnitz2025 have already established an intensive dialogue and cooperation and they have every intention to carry this on.
