Alma m. karlin - paths

In partnership with the Celje Regional Museum, Ljubljana Castle is hosting an exhibition entitled 'Paths' on the life, work and above all the remarkable travels of Alma Maximiliana Karlin.

The Alma M. Karlin – Paths exhibition seeks to revive the memory of the travels of Alma M Karlin from Celje, who travelled around the world alone in the period from 24 November 1919 to 28 December 1927.

Alongside explanatory text, the exhibition consists of photography, postcards, some of which are copied from slides that Karlin used in her lectures, as well as sketches of plants by Karlin and pages from her herbarium. Objects that Karlin left to the Celje Regional Museum are also on display.

Celje Regional Museum wanted to preserve the memory of Alma M Karlin's remarkable travels via a permanent exhibition in the Old Manor House (Stara grofija) in Celje. It opened to commemorate the 120th anniversary of her birth and the 90th anniversary of her departure on her travels. The life and work of this remarkable woman are now on show to the general Slovene and foreign public at Ljubljana castle.

The exhibition is in Ljubljana Castle's Pentagonal Tower every day from 9am to 9pm until 1 September 2013. Admission is free.
