Americans frequent visitors to ljubljana
In terms of visitor numbers, Americans are ranked fifth in the Slovenian capital, while by number of overnight stays they are as high as fourth place (Italians are top of the list, followed by Germans, Austrians and the British).
Regarding Ljubljana, American guests are also interesting as they stay in Ljubljana an average of 2.4 days (somewhat above the average stay in Ljubljana which in 2011 was 1.87 days). The length of stays by Americans was exceeded only by those of Finns (2.7 days), Latvians and Lithuanians (2.6 days), while there are small traces in guest structure.
Meanwhile, at the end of August this year, a blog on the web edition of The New York Times Style Magazine published a very positive report on the Slovenian capital.
The author of this blog, who has visited Ljubljana around 20 times, had already set Ljubljana out as an example of an ideal city about 15 years ago, as in his childhood he and his grandmother had spent happy relaxed times reading and looking at beautifully illustrated large fairytale books. In the city centre a castle on a little hill, framed by a winding river, colourfully-painted and well-kept houses and cobbled streets leading to squares with stone fountains… And when he saw Ljubljana, these long-since faded images sprang back to life in his memory. Ljubljana also impressed him with its tranquility, musing “In what other European capital could you leave your windows open on a warm night and hear nothing but a splashing fountain and bird song?”
Until a few years ago, it still seemed that Ljubljana had two weaknesses – drab hotels and dull food. But, as he describes in detail in his blog entitled ‘Eurofile – Loving Ljubljana’, all this has been transformed in recent years. As he points out, this “winsome little city has some of the best and most original restaurants in Europe” and some really wonderful hotels.
