An anonymous international architectural competition for the conceptual design solution for an Islamic religious-cultural centre in Ljubljana has opened.

The competition, launched by the Islamic community in Slovenia in partnership with the City of Ljubljana, was published in the Delo and Financial Times newspapers and on the websites of the Islamic community and the City of Ljubljana on 30 June 2011.

The competition was formally announced at City Hall by Mayor Zoran Janković, Deputy Mayor Prof. Janez Koželj, who is also the president of the competition's evaluation commission, and Mufti Dr Nedžad Grabus.

The deadline for the submission of competition entries is 3 October 2011.
