Within the scope of the campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana the Best Apartment Building 2018 in Ljubljana was announced on 11 April 2019. The recognition went to two buildings on Bilečanska ulica 2 and 5 in the District Community Golovec.

Residents of both winning apartment buildings received a plaque, a flag, 20 Ljubljana Rose saplings and an offer for a lower electricity supply price with the energy company Energetika Ljubljana.

»The biggest value of the recognition is that residents came together,« said the Mayor at the event commending the cooperation between neighbours.

The winning buildings on Bilečanska ulica 2 and 5 are 41 years old and jointly have over 320 apartment units. A lot of will power, self-initiative and cooperation between residents went into the renovation.

In addition to checking all evaluation criteria, the jury was convinced by the tidiness and orderliness of the broader surroundings of both high-rise buildings and the fact that two buildings despite their high number of residents were able to carry out such extensive renovations.

About the campaign Best Apartment Building in Ljubljana

The aim of the campaign Best Apartment Building in Ljubljana is to motivate residents in multi-family residential buildings to contribute to the best of their ability to their building’s image of clean, well-managed and environment friendly co-living. By doing so, we want to foster the awareness that Ljubljana as a city strives towards green activities in all areas.

The campaign was launched at the initiative of a citizen the year when Ljubljana held the title European Green Capital 2016, this year we have awarded the third Best Apartment Building in Ljubljana, already, and we intend to continue with the campaign in future.
