On 24 July 2014, the BicikeLJ self-service bicycle hire scheme has been expanded with an additional three new BicikeLJ stations in the BTC City area. Now you can hire bicycles at the Citypark, Atlantis Water Park and BTC City Marketplace.

The companies BTC and Citypark in cooperation with the Municipality of Ljubljana opened three new BicikeLJ bicycle stations linking the self-service bicycle hire scheme network with the urban BTC City Ljubljana shopping centre. By expanding to the East part of Ljubljana the new stations strengthen the link between the BTC City and the city traffic infrastructure and significantly contribute to the development of the sustainable urban mobility while promoting bicycling.

About the BicikeLJ Hire Scheme

The BicikeLJ self-service bicycle hire scheme is running in Ljubljana since 12 May 2011 and during the three years of its operation two million hires have been recorded. This means that on average each bicycle was hired six times per day. During this period the bicycles were used by approximately 55 thousand citizens and visitors to the city.

The bicycles of the BicikeLJ hire scheme are an addition to the Ljubljana’s public transport system and represent the fastest and cheapest means of transport in the city centre. The scheme is easy to use allowing the individuals to hire or return the bicycle at any moment to any of the bicycle stations.
