British royal couple at city hall

On 27 June 2013, Mayor Zoran Janković welcomed Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex and his wife Sophie to City Hall.

The VIP guests took the opportunity to sign the City of Ljubljana's Golden Book, while Mayor Zoran Janković said that it was an honour that they were visiting City Hall and pointed out that this was the third visit to Ljubljana by members of Britain's royal family.
Following the reception at City Hall, the VIP guests viewed Ljubljana city centre and went to Ljubljana City Museum, where they visited the 'WHEEL, 5,200 years' exhibition, which showcases the oldest wooden wheel with an axis anywhere in the world.

In the evening, the royal couple attended the opening of the 61st Ljubljana Festival, which got underway in Congress Square with a musical-visual performance that united art and artists.

The distinguished guests were in Slovenia at the initiative of British Ambassador to Slovenia Andrew Page. They attended numerous events intended to promote British innovation, fashion, heritage, business and the consolidation of bilateral relations with Slovenia.
