Brochure “Access City Award 2015”

Ljubljana is ever more accessible and friendlier. Our efforts in the area of unhindered access to built environment, public transport, information as well as diverse services and programmes for people with different types of disabilities have also been recognised abroad. We are presenting the brochure Access City Award 2015 published by the European Commission.

This is already the second time Ljubljana had remarkable success at the international competition Access City Award for cities accessible to the disabled, which the European Commission opens each year, ever since 2010. The first time Ljubljana participated, namely in 2012, it was ranked as one of the best 8 cities in competition with 114 cities from 23 European countries and received a special award for increased accessibility to transport and related infrastructure. In 2015 it was ranked even higher, it received the bronze recognition (coming after Borås, Sweden, and Helsinki, Finland) and joined the Europe’s elite in the area of ensuring accessibility of the city for the disabled.

At the conclusion of the mentioned competition in 2015 the European Commission published a brochure Access City Award 2015, available also in the Slovenian language. Individual award-winning cities are presented in the brochure with descriptions, photos and users’ comments on accessibility. The article on Ljubljana can be found on page 10.
