Cankarjevo embankment and ribja footbridge

The Cankarjevo Nabrežje embankment has been renovated, and the two banks of the Ljubljanica River are connected by the new Ribja Brv footbridge.

The Cankarjevo Nabrežje embankment was renovated by the KPL Company, selected through the public tender. The renovation project was designed at the Atelje Vozlič studio to level the road surface with the pavement next to the buildings and the fence; to arrange the parts of the non-existing protective fence; to renovate the tactile path for the blind and the public lightning route; and to replace the worn out trees at the Ljubljanica River.

The old wooden footbridge was replaced by the new Ribja brv footbridge. The wooden construction was initially intended as a temporary solution, and due to the deterioration of the material, it became too dangerous to be used throughout the years. The City of Ljubljana has decided to replace it with a more permanent construction. The public architecture competition was conducted in collaboration with the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia – the winning project was of the architects Peter and Boštjan Gabrijelčič with their colleagues at the ARHITEKTURA studio and the author constructor Gregor Cipot from the PONTING bureau. The selected contractor at the Ribja Brv footbridge project was the Makro 5 Company.
