Ceramics at the city hall – emona 2000

For the eleventh consecutive year the exhibition "Ceramics at the City Hall", a retrospective exhibition of the members of the Ceramics Artists and Pottery Makers Association, is held at the Historical atrium of the City Hall. The exhibition will be on display until 18 September 2014.

Every Wednesday afternoon for the duration of the exhibition there will be free workshops for the visitors.

This year the Association decided on Emona 2000 theme. They organised lectures about Roman pottery, acquired the relevant literature and tested the methods and materials used by the Ancient Romans. Since the Romans were masters who held well-organised workshops throughout the Empire and also had the wisdom to absorb the knowledge of the peoples living in the territories they conquered, the research work conducted by the Association was very interesting. In May 2014, they held a two-day workshop for the members of the Association on Ilova gora, where they produced "Roman pottery". The skilled potters of the Association spun their wheels using museum templates of the Roman dishes which they decorated using different techniques and designs. They enjoyed manufacturing oil lamps and simply enjoyed producing the fragments of the Roman pottery.

The exhibition which is on display between 31 July and 18 September in the Historical atrium of the City Hall features the following three themes:

• a Roman pottery group project,
• original works in style of Roman pottery and
• free themed original works.

61 authors exhibit their original pottery and 29 authors took part in the group project.
