City landmarks lit up for support and awareness-raising

On Tuesday, 17 November, to show our support for the global commitment to total elimination of cervical cancer we lit up the Butchers’ Bridge in teal and the Ljubljana Castle in purple to mark the World Prematurity Day.

On that day the World Health Organisation publicly presented the global strategy against cervical cancer. It is a unique event and Slovenia joined it. Countries around the world marked the commitment of the World Health Organisation by simultaneously lighting up at least one cultural landmark in teal – the colour symbolising cervical cancer.

The recognisable symbol of the World Prematurity Day are small purple socks hanging on a clothing line together with bigger white socks (Socks for Life) and purple lighting of landmarks illustrating the uniqueness and vulnerability of the smallest newborns.
