Civitas Forum 2015

Ljubljana will host the 13th CIVITAS Forum, the most important European conference on sustainable mobility in cities, between 7 and 9 October 2015. This year's theme will be Sharing the City.

The theme Sharing the City will be mostly focused on sustainable mobility in cities – an important contribution to improving the quality of life and introducing friendly cities accessible to everyone. The discussion on best ways of sharing public space in concrete and social sense, and sharing experience from the field will be of great assistance to designing and introducing innovative, smart and durable sustainable solutions in the future, for the European cities and beyond.

The central venue of the conference with usual attendance of several hundred people from different countries will be Cankarjev Dom. We will also offer thematic tours of the city to the participants. They will have an opportunity to see Ljubljana, explore its beauty and witness the numerous "green" novelties that were introduced in relatively short period of time, which was the reason we received the European Green Capital 2016 Award and the European Mobility Week Award as the only city to have received the latter twice.

Ljubljana has been a member of the CIVITAS community from 2003 and has participated in two projects by the CIVITAS initiative (ELAN and MOBILIS), and introduced 24 measures within the initiative framework to assist in the development of sustainable mobility and changes in travel habits in Ljubljana.

CIVITAS Forum is a network of cities established in 2003 and strives for the development of sustainable mobility in cites. The network includes over 200 European cities, those which participated in projects co-financed by the European Commission and initiated by CIVITAS, and those which follow the directives and policies of sustainable mobility, promoted by the CIVITAS Initiative.

More information on the conference is available at the CIVITAS website.
