Climbing wall in vič park

On 17 October 2013 an outdoor climbing wall was set up in Vič Park, the first of its kind in Slovenia.

The outdoor climbing wall in Vič Park is a great contribution for all climbing fans. It is configured in such a way that it can be used by less experienced and professional climbers alike. The boulder features around 1,000 handholds of different colours and sizes and allows climbers to climb over four metres.
The location was chosen strategically to add some fun and variety to the recreational activities offered at Vič Park. Since the climbing wall is located in an area with a lot of potential users (university-, high school and elementary school students etc.), outdoor fitness equipment was added to the surrounding area close to the wall so as to offer recreational options also to the non-climbers. The use of the outdoor climbing wall and outdoor fitness equipment is free.
The outdoor climbing wall in Vič Park was set up as part of the international Julius Project, a programme carried out within the framework of cross-border cooperation between Slovenia and Italy and partly co-financed by the EU (ERDF), the Republic of Slovenia, the City of Ljubljana and the public institute Ljubljana Sport and Leisure Facilities. The main objective of the project is the promotion of climbing, mountaineering and hiking in a natural environment. The project partnership involves 12 partners (7 Italian and 5 Slovenian).
