Computer training among elderly

127 free computer courses for the elderly and 1,267 participating citizens of City of Ljubljana took place between January and the end of June 2014.

Of those, 36 were beginner courses, 55 advanced and 36 training courses of computer education for the elderly. Most courses took place in the Bežigrad and Šiška Districts with the highest number of applicants. The average number of students per individual course was 10 (the highest number in the Bežigrad District of 10.8, and the lowest in the Rudnik and Šentvid District of 8.5).

The average age of participants was 68.5 – the youngest attendee was a woman of 53 years of age, and the oldest attendee was a man of 88 years of age. Most of the participants were females with high school education in average.

This was the seventh consecutive year for the City of Ljubljana to organise the free computer courses with almost 11.000 citizens participating in the campaign. The questionnaires filled out by the participants at the end of the course revealed great satisfaction in the courses (the average assessment was between 5,78 and 6). The lecturers, assistants and the classroom adequacy also received highest assessment grades.

We plan to continue with the project in the future due to the high interest by the citizens of Ljubljana in the quality courses.
