In the desire to reduce packaging waste at this year’s December events Ljubljana experimentally introduced the use of unique returnable ceramic cups for hot drinks stalls.

It is an experimental introduction of returnable packaging along the lines of some European capitals and cities. The cups are available for a fee of €2 (which is, for example, comparable to Salzburg, which has a deposit fee for cups with a single image of Advent Salzburg in the amount of €2.5).

Caterers of Ljubljana with stall offer in the context of events of December 2014 in Ljubljana have well received this novelty. However, very good responses have come from the visitors as well. It should be noted that this is an experimental introduction of this concept and that the number of cups, which are available, is limited – namely to 5 thousand pieces. The cups are ceramic, white with red inscription that uses the red colour of the visual identity of the Ljubljana brand and helps in positioning of Ljubljana as a romantic city.
