Deputy Mayor Rok Žnidaršič, together with his studio Medprostor, received the Prešeren Fund Award 2023 for achievements in the past three years for the Hribljane wooden house, Šentvid sports hall and the design of the Žička Kartuzija complex.

The expert jury wrote in the justification: »The architectural opus of the Medprostor studio, within which the architects Rok Žnidaršič, Jerneja Fisher Knap and Samo Mlakar and their colleagues work, has been marked by excellent and respectively very diverse projects in the past three years, within the framework of which the authors show their exceptionally respectful attitude towards space and new interventions. In its works, the studio expresses excellence on various architectural levels: they design single-family houses, educational institutions, public buildings, public spaces, etc. Thus, it is not surprising that the three outstanding projects of the past three years – the Vižmarje Brod Sports Hall, the renovation of the Vrlovčnik homestead and the design of the Žička Kartuzija complex – despite the diverse contextual conditions, client types and the amount of funds, were all executed with the highest degree of excellence. /…/ With a sincere and restrained attitude towards the existing, the Medprostor studio manages to preserve the dignity of Slovenian architectural heritage, and with new interventions, they emphasize the importance of the identity and architectural culture, thus preserving and enriching Slovenian culture in the broadest sense of the word.«
