Drinking fountains in Ljubljana are opening

This weekend we have opened first four drinking fountains, namely, at Cankar Peek (at Rožnik Inn), at Golovec Hill (at the turn for the observatory), at Stritar Street (at the City Hall) and at the Old Square (at the Romeo restaurant).

There are 39 drinking fountains set up in the Ljubljana area, the first four are already working, and the rest are expected to be opened in the first week after the Labour Day holidays. Drinking fountains are opening gradually; before a drinking fountain can start working again we have to thoroughly inspect and clean it, and carry out maintenance work, if needed. Before the drinking water is made available to passers-by, we collect drinking water samples, and when we get favourable results of the analysis, we activate the drinking fountain.

Recommendations for use

We ask citizens and other users of drinking fountains to follow the recommendations below for their own safety and safety of others:

  • touch the button for water only with clean hands or with a clean paper handkerchief or using other protection;
  • press the button and let the water run for a while (until water temperature stabilizes);
  • do not touch the outlet with your hands or mouth;
  • pour the water in a bottle, if possible;
  • after using a water fountain do not touch your face, mouth, nose and eyes;
  • if you notice any irregularities, call 00 386 (0)1 58 08 112.
