Dublin declaration 2013

An EU Summit on Active and Healthy Ageing was held in Dublin on 13 and 14 June 2013 as part of the current Irish EU Presidency, in which representatives from the City of Ljubljana’s Health and Social Care Department also participated.

At the meeting Tanja Hodnik, Head of the City of Ljubljana’s Social Care Section, signed the Dublin Declaration 2013 on behalf of Mayor Zoran Janković, and throughout the meeting, run as part of the European Village, there was participation from and presentation of the City of Ljubljana and a chance to showcase its activities, programmes and services assured for the elderly.

The City of Ljubljana has been a part of the World Health Organisation’s Age-Friendly Cities Network since 2011, and that year also signed the Dublin Declaration 2011, thereby making further commitments to respecting the principles and guidelines of creating an age-friendly city Thus, this year, Ljubljana City Council adopted an ‘Age-Friendly Ljubljana’ action plan for 2013 to 2015. The Dublin Declaration 2013 is, in contrast to the first, above all more Europe-oriented.
