Also this year, the City of Ljubljana and its public institutions joined the international environmental initiative Earth Hour.

On Saturday, 19 March 2016, between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm the following buildings were dimmed:
- Ljubljana Castle
- Plečnik’s Arcades on Ljubljana main market
- lights in Plečnik’s Žale
- lights at Križanke wall
- outer side of the LPP administration building on Celovška cesta 160
- administration building of Energetika Ljubljana on Verovškova 62 and outer parking lighting
- exterior of the VO-KA administration building on Vodovodna cesta 90
- JHL administration building on Verovškova ulica 70.

Furthermore, some Ljubljana hotels joined in this year.
Earth Hour is a global initiative against environmental changes, started in 2007 by the WWF organization from Australia. Today, Earth Hour is a global movement and Ljubljana has been part of it for already five years in a row.
