Eurobasket in ljubljana 2013 tourist guide

To mark the European Basketball Championships, the City of Ljubljana and Ljubljana Tourism have prepared a special tourist guide intended mainly for visitors from abroad.

The guide provides a comprehensive overview of events in Ljubljana during the European Basketball Championships – therefore not just sporting events during the championships, but also all the most important tourist and other useful information. It is published in a total print run of 36,000 copies, and is available in Slovene and eight other languages, namely German, Italian, English, Russian, French, Croatian, Serbian and Spanish.
The introduction to the guide showcases Ljubljana as a place where people from every corner of Europe come together, along with various cultures, nations, religions and architectural styles – and outlines a few ideas about what Ljubljana offers in terms of things to do. It includes the tournament schedule and presentations of Ljubljana’s two match venues, Tivoli Hall and Stožice. This is followed by an overview of events in Congress Square and on Breg, which from 14 September on will be a gathering point for gourmet lovers.
The guide also showcases all the other important events that take place during the tournament, highlighting Ljubljana Castle, guided tours around the city and trips in the region specially designed by Ljubljana Tourism for the duration of the championships. Because events in the city will have a strong impact on city life itself and the logistics of getting around – which is a key thing for visitors to know – there is strong emphasis on traffic and transport during the tournament, with a clear map and information about the traffic regime, parking, the Urbana card and details about using Ljubljana public transport.
The content is rounded off with some good reasons to return to Ljubljana – the primary goal set by Ljubljana Tourism for the tournament is to ensure that visitors are impressed by Ljubljana and its tourist offer to the extent that they return to Ljubljana as private travellers with family and friends.
