Florence was the venue of the Eurocities network cultural forum between 13 and 15 March 2013, where the central theme was Culture and Innovation.

Event participants discussed 'Culture and Innovation – the cultural city of the future'. As a case of good practice, City of Ljubljana representatives showcased archaeological park renovations with emphasis on iEmona and the remodelling of Congress Square, for which Ljubljana won the Gubbio prize. Their presentation was received with significant interest and requests for further information about the project.

Projects in the field of innovative approaches to culture were made, in addition to Ljubljana, by representatives of Berlin, Belfast and Gothenburg.
