‘Europe to Ljubljana – Ljubljana to Europe’

On 8 May 2012 in Congress Square, the City of Ljubljana and the European Commission Representation in Slovenia organised ‘Europe to Ljubljana – Ljubljana to Europe’, the traditional celebration of the Ljubljana City Holiday and Europe Day.

Those assembled were addressed by Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković and European Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik, while the entertainment programme included a performance by the RTV Slovenija Symphony Orchestra with conductor and soloist Simon Krečič, solo tenor Janez Lotrič and soprano Mihaela Komočar.

European countries celebrate 9 May as the day of victory over Nazism and fascism as the Second World War formally ended in Europe on 9 May 1945.
