European Day for Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse
On Slovenia’s initiative the Council of Europe has declared 18 November as the European Day for Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. The City of Ljubljana will also mark the day in cooperation with the Association against Sexual Abuse.
From 11 till 19 November 2015, in the Main Atrium of the City Hall, an exhibition of children’s drawings from the primary school Miško Kranjec and essays written by children from primary schools Brežice and Podbočje on the topic of sexual abuse will be open to public. On 18 November, passers-by will have the opportunity to find out more about the issue of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children at a stand set up on Prešern Square, where blue ribbons will be handed out – the symbol of the European Day for Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. The purpose of marking the European Day for Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse is to above all raise awareness on the necessity of preventing and reporting all forms of abuse of children and providing victims of such crimes with adequate support. Namely, sexual abuse of children is a serious violation of children’s rights and can have long lasting and often detrimental consequences on a child’s entire life. You are invited to attend one of the events and by doing so say NO to sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children!
