A teeming multitude of people counted away the seconds at the New Year's Eve they spent outdoors in the centre of Ljubljana while enjoying different music genres. For the first time the children also joined the countdown festivities.

While the families with children up to 10 years of age (give or take a year) in the company of Dedek Mraz (Father Frost) and other fairy-tale heroes experienced the coming of the New Year at the Congress Square already in the afternoon, the New Year's Eve partying, however, started on the four squares of Ljubljana in the evening. The main party at the Congress Square was dedicated to the widest circle of visitors featuring such acts as Nuša Derenda, Alenka Godec, Jan Plestenjak and Gadi.

The fans of alternative rock music came into their own at the New Year's Eve party that took place at the French Revolution Square. The party on the Town Square has traditionally been dedicated to fans of traditional popular songs, while the Pogačarjev Trg square featured Slovenian modern pop and folk music performers.

Let us add that the Snaga public company started with cleaning after the New Year Eve's parties in the centre of Ljubljana already on the first of January at 4 AM when 34 employees collected and transported 8,800 kg of waste which is 2,340 kg less than last year.
