Fabiani's Year

The 150th anniversary of the birth of Maks Fabiani will be commemorated by a string of events in Ljubljana, a few other Slovenian cities, Italy and Austria to present the versatile creator to the wide public.

The central event of commemorating Fabiani's Year is the "Maks Fabiani, The Architect of the Monarchy" exhibition from 25 March 2015 at the Ljubljana City Hall Atrium. The exhibition features the architect's work in Vienna, Ljubljana and Trieste. It will be on display in Ljubljana until 28 June 2015; from here it will travel to Vienna and Rome.

At the same time the open-air gallery at the Krakovski Nasip embankment features an exhibition of Art images of the architect and urban planner, Maks Fabiani, which were captured in photography by Miran Kambič.
In all of his periods of creation, Fabiani was faithful to his fundamental desire of the Vienna Art Nouveau of connecting the art with everyday life. Each building he built was also an urban project of on a wider scale to him. This can be especially attributed to his Ljubljana opus, as all of his buildings are created from a large-scale plan of city regulation, which he created in 1895 on his own for the renovation and development of the damaged city after the earthquake.

Fabiani's Year will feature 34 various events in Slovenia, Austria and Italy.
