Festival of the third age
From 1 to 3 October 2012, Cankarjev dom was the venue of the 12th Festival of the Third Age, in which the City of Ljubljana was a participant.
During the three days of the festival, visitors of every generation were offered a number of interesting and useful lectures, workshops, presentations and expert talks.
As in previous years, the City of Ljubljana and its public institutes were active participants in the festival. In addition to its display in the exhibition space in the foyer of Cankarjev dom, the City of Ljubljana and its institutes prepared a rich accompanying programme, from artistic and language to IT workshops, interesting lectures on healthy living, dance workshops and yoga workshops and much more. The City of Ljubljana also showcased the Ljubljana area and its surroundings with a showcase in the exhibition space of organic farm products and goodies. In partnership with the Ljubljana Tourism public institute, the City of Ljubljana also organised free guided tours of the city all three days of the festival.
Those attending the 12th Festival of the Third Age were addressed by Mayor Zoran Janković, while in this year’s European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the festival ran under the honorary patronage of Slovenian President Dr Danilo Türk.
