First solar plant on the roof of building c at ljubljana technology park

In partnership with Sol Navitas Investments d.o.o., the 100 kW output MFE Sol Navitas Technology Park solar electric plant was launched on Wednesday 7 December 2011 on the roof of building C at Ljubljana Technology Park.

The energy produced will be equivalent to the average annual consumption of 30 Slovenian households, and by this reduce CO² emissions up to a volume of 100 tons per year.

The investor to the tune of €250,000 in the new MFE Sol Navitas Technology Park 1 solar power plant on the roof of a Ljubljana Technology Park building is Sol Navitas Investments d.o.o, a subsidiary of Sol navitas d.o.o. A roof at Ljubljana Technology Park is thus now home to 425 polycrystalline modules made by Chinese manufacturer Trina Solar.

“One of Ljubljana Technology Park’s main priorities in the future is orientation to the environment and alternative energy sources and, as the leading technology park in Slovenia, we would like to set guidelines for other bodies in the business support environment in the country, so that we deal responsibly with the environment and obey the principles of sustainable development. At this time we only have solar panels on the roof of building C, but in the future we will install them on other Ljubljana Technology Park buildings” emphasised Iztok Lesjak, CEO of Ljubljana Technology Park at the curtain-raising of the solar electric plant.

The opening of the solar electric plant was also attended by Mayor Zoran Janković and Deputy Mayor of the City of Ljubljana Jadranka Dakić. Mayor Zoran Janković welcomed the installation of this technology at Ljubljana Technology Park and stressed that “In the next 20 years we will use three major sources of energy; from nuclear power, which is exceptional; from Šoštanj thermo electric plant, which is classical, and from renewable sources the sun, water and wind”.
