Fish sculpture on Gallus Embankment

On the renovated Gallus Embankment the Fish sculpture is now erected bringing together the refurbished embankment of the Ljubljanica River.

The concrete fish is a sculpture and a piece of playground equipment in one. It was made in 1958 for the children’s playground in the Tivoli Park by architect and sculptor Vladimira Bratuž Furlan, and the fish at the Gallus Embankment was based on the idea of architects Vesna Vozlič Košir and Matej Vozlič from the Atelje Vozlič office.
With its erection on the Gallus Embankment we want to highlight the very high quality of design of urban spaces in the sixties.
The fish on the embankment of the Ljubljanica River is put into a different context with its lights brining attention to the river as the fundamental element of the city inviting us to sit alongside it while evoking childhood memories of many generations of citizens of Ljubljana.
