From the oldest wheel to the top of the cycling world

On the occasion of World Cycling Day, you are invited to the exhibition From the oldest wheel to the top of the cycling world. The exhibition on the history of cycling in Ljubljana will be on view in the Historical Atrium of the City Hall until 19 June 2022.

From 1869 until Pogačar's victory

The beginnings of cycling in our country date back to 1869 when the German newspaper Triglav titled this first cycling enthusiasm »velocipede mania«. The exhibition shows the many stories and successes that followed in the succeeding years. The stories go to the very top of the cycling world when Tadej Pogačar from the Rog Ljubljana Cycling Club wins the Tour de France taking first place in the world cycling rankings.
The exhibition is an illustrative and rich presentation of the history of cycling in Ljubljana and the stories of the Rog Cycling Club, achieving outstanding results in a city that is friendly to cyclists and the cycling sport.

Join the bike parade and visit the bike festival

On Wednesday, 15 June 2022, cycling will take centre stage in Ljubljana. The bike festival Cycling the change will take place in Congress Square from 10:00 to 22:00. Public institutions and companies, associations and other organizations working in the field of sustainable mobility, sports, health and environmental protection will present their activities on their stands until 19:00.

The event will culminate in the afternoon when we will embark on a bike parade, mass cycling on the roads and streets of Ljubljana, with which we want to encourage as many people as possible to cycle. The cycling parade will start at 19:00 in front of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
