Funicular gets its two millionth passenger
The rail funicular to the Ljubljana Castle was visited by its two millionth passenger on Friday, 15 August, 2014. The passenger was a seven-year-old Tinka Ivartnik from Kotlje in Koroška.
The Ivartnik family from Kotlje in Koroška arrived at the funicular lower station just a few moments before 4 p.m. The family's youngest member, daughter Tinka, held the third and the two millionth ticket.
The surprised family, who take a trip to Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Castle once a year was congratulated by Mayor Zoran Janković, and the Director of the Ljubljana Castle, Mateja Avbelj Valentan, presented the girl with a gift.
The municipality Ljubljana connected Ljubljana Castle with the old city core at the end of year 2006 by an urban means of transport – the Funicular Railway.
