"Goodbye, Factory.

Until 5 September 2014, the City Museum of Ljubljana hosts the exhibition named "Goodbye, Factory. Memories of the Forgotten Workers.", which exhibits the stories of ten factories of Ljubljana through the eyes of its workers.

This exhibition reveals stories of the following factories: Dekorativna Ljubljana, Mladinska Knjiga printing house, Pletenina, Tobačna Ljubljana, Ljudske Pravice printing house, Železniška Livarna in Šiška, Agrostroj, Avtomontaža, Gorenje Tiki and factory Rog.

Factory stories are not stories solely of profit and loss, products and managers, but rather stories of the workers who are not only affected by individual but also by collective memories. The industrial workers have the sensation of building and creating together, of having been an important part of development. Today they are forgotten, industrial buildings are often replaced by service businesses, office buildings and shopping centres. Many of them still do not quite understand why the factory closed.

The exhibition is based on the project «Goodbye Factory«, started at the end of 2013 by the newspaper Delo, whose main aim is to gather stories and memories of the people who worked in the destroyed factories. The Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana institution, which joined the project as a professional partner, helped the exhibition being set and will preserve the collected stories for the next generations. The Historical Archives Ljubljana contributed to the project with photos and pieces of information.

The exhibition, set by the media house Delo in cooperation with the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana and Historical Archives Ljubljana, is free of charge.
