Full of juicy news, new authors and incredible story lines, a speciality of Ljubljana, the world-class 'Library under the Treetops' has opened its green doors.

Stop. Take time out for a good book or magazine and leaf through it in the tranquillity of the shade under the canopy of trees.

A book in the countryside is a forgotten pleasure. So it is back with many more hot items and you are invited to join the devotees. It's not an activity with glamour or the promise of adventure, but has instead much more genuine pleasure and relaxing charm.

Reading is an attractive way to spend your free time.

You can do it any time of the day, although you are probably familiar with the recommendation for Friday morning, when the city has a particular magic: everyone is hurrying crazily towards their goals, while you are there in the shade among the leafy canopy and peacefully reading word, as if there were nothing more significant in the world. And you are absolutely right!

The Library under the Treetops – islands of free reading, browsing and enjoyment – runs this year from 27 May to 28 August in five locations in Ljubljana.
