Home care – a response to demographic changes
A conference was held at the Slovenian Parliament on Thursday 2 February 2012 on the subject ‘Home care – a response to demographic changes in society’, as part of which the City of Ljubljana home care project was showcased.
The conference was organised by the Republic of Slovenia National Council, the Slovene Consumers’ Association, the Slovenian Federation of Pensioners’ Associations and the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs.
The City of Ljubljana home care system was presented by Tanja Hodnik, Head of the Social Care Section in the Health and Social Care Department. Among other things, she pointed out that last year 148,000 hours of home help were carried out in the City of Ljubljana, which were delivered to 720 users.
In 2011, the City of Ljubljana allocated €1,906,600 to home care implementation and has budgeted €2,274,000 for this purpose in 2012.
Among the City of Ljubljana’s plans, Tanja Hodnik emphasised the broadening of the home care network, promoting new forms of care and co-operating in developing new system solutions.
The ‘Home care – a response to demographic changes in society’ conference took place as part of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations at a time when it is necessary to pay greater attention to thinking about how best to respond to demographic changes at European, national and local levels.
