An international orchid exhibition at the Greenhouse in Tivoli Park takes place between 20 and 25 April.
The exhibition is to showcase the diverse types of these very popular tropical plants, which are famous for their unique shapes and colourful flowers. It will also be possible to buy orchids, while the exhibition is to be accompanied by lectures and workshops.
The Ljubljana orchid is also to be on show at the exhibition, created by crossing various forms and cultivated by Dutch-German firm Anthura Arndt, most of whose plant crosses are named after various world cities. Anthura Ljubljana, properly known as an orchid of the genus Phalaenopsis, is a result of at least seven generations of crosses, meaning it has about a fifty-year history.
