Invited to Kinodvorišče

The cinema company Kinodvor is introducing the open-air cinema Kinodvorišče (Cinemayard) in the atrium of the Slovenian Railway Company featuring five premieres and a Slovenian short film evening, lined up from 8 June till 4 July 2016.

On Wednesday, 8 June, Kinodvorišče opens with a party comedy with a bit of baseball and lots of beer: Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) directed by the American chronologer of the wonderful daily life Richard Linklater picking up where Boyhood (2014) left off.
On the opening night, Mike, »the flying pilot« at Radio Študent and an expert in American pop culture is entertaining the audience with his music selection.

On 13 June, Kinodvorišče is lighting up with the documentary Fire at Sea (Fuocoammare, 2016) by the award-winning documentarian Gianfranco Rosi. The documentary received the Golden Bear for the best film at this year’s Berlinale.

On 22 June, Chevalier (2015) by the first lady of the new Greek cinema Athina Rachel Tsangari is on the programme. Her latest work puts male competitiveness, group dynamics and the mid-life crisis under the microscope.

On 27 June, the new edition of Our Short Ones (Naši kratki), already the ninth in row, is presenting latest national short films, namely, the film Inhale (Vdih) by Blaž Završnik, the Well Spent Afternoon (Dobro unovčeno popoldne) by Martin Turk, and the Little Houses (Hiške) by Darko Sinko and Matjaž Ivanišin.
Screenings are followed by discussions with the creators.

After last year’s success of the documentary Amy (2015), this year Kinodvor offers another moving in depth portrait of a music icon, »The First Lady of Rock'n'roll«, in the film Janis: Little Girl Blue (2015). It is on the programme from 28 June, and on the premiere night Radio Študent is organising the »Flower Power« party with DJ Oskar Model who will bring the audience to their feet.

On 4 July, Kinodvorišče closes with the last premiere: Ryuzo and the Seven Henchmen (Ryûzô to 7 nin no kobun tachi, 2015), a combination of a gangster film and a comedy with which the tireless master of the genre Takeshi Kitano returns to the approach which brought him worldwide fame.

Films are screened in their original language with Slovene subtitles. Every day the screening starts at 21.30. Entry into Kinodvorišče is through the Kinodvor theatre, in case of rain the film is going to be screened in the theatre at the same time.
