Kinobalon as a case of good practice on the state of film education in the eu
International research has highlighted the City of Ljubljana and Kinobalon at Kinodvor as a case of good practice on the state of film education in the EU.
In 2011, Slovenia took part in research on the state of film education in Europe, in preparation for the European Commission proposal for ‘Creative Europe’, the new EU seven-year programme for the cultural and creative sector, led by the British Film Institute. The new programme will enable co-financing of film-educational programmes for the first time. The Slovenian Film Centre collated and forwarded the data for Slovenia, with the research results available at the following link.
The research as a case of good practice highlighted the Kinobalon programme of cinematic education for children and young people at Kinodvor and the significance of City of Ljubljana support to such programmes. Related programmes include the Elephant educational programme of animated films organised by the Društvo 2 Koluta (2 Reels Association) and the Videomania Festival by Vegova, the Electrotechnical - IT High Schools in Ljubljana.
For the European Commission, the British Film Institute is this year preparing a study on the use of audio-visual content in schools and has already invited Kinodvor to participate, owing to its significant experience in the field of film-educational programmes and its continuous contact with educational institutions and similar practices in schools.
