Laying the foundation stone for the construction of two faculties
On Wednesday 27 June, Mayor Zoran Janković took part in the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the construction of Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and Faculty of Computer and Information Science.
The estimated cost of the construction of the two faculties next to the Biology Centre and near Ljubljana Technology Park exceeds €116 million, of which more than €75 million is to come from the European Regional Development Fund, while the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has contributed more than €13 million to the investment. This is one of the largest investment projects for research and development activities by the European Regional Development Fund in this financial perspective.
This project will give the Ljubljana University Faculty of Computer and Information Science 22 laboratories, nine lecture theatres, 14 IT classrooms and 66 offices. The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology is to have 148 laboratories, four larger and one smaller lecture theatres, five IT classrooms, 15 seminar rooms, 86 offices and 11 reference libraries.
