‘let’s trust in our own creativity’
At an event entitled ‘Let’s trust in our own creativity’, Mayor Zoran Janković awarded prizes to young researchers from Ljubljana primary and middle schools and their mentors.
On Thursday 9 and 16 May 2013, Ljubljana’s Škofijska klasična gimnazija (the Diocesan Classical High School) was the venue of the concluding event on the 26th anniversary of youth research activities prepared by Rihard Jakopič Primary School.
Through its Pre-School Education and Schooling Department, the City of Ljubljana has been financing the ‘Let’s trust in our own creativity’ project for the last 26 years, whose participants are young researchers from Ljubljana primary and middle schools. The project supports youth research activities which unite young and adult researchers from the broadest range of interests, professions and institutions, to create and explore together and develop their skills and talents.
This time, 21 Ljubljana middle schools provided a total of 165 researchers, who completed 106 tasks under the leadership of 57 mentors and 26 co-mentors. This year, 211 primary school researchers completed 110 research, six project and four seminar tasks which they supported with colourful posters. The best and prize-winning posters are to be put on display in City Hall in the autumn.
The first prize, two-day trips to Verona, Safari and Gardaland, were won by 80 young researchers and their mentors from primary schools, while the prize-winning middle-school pupils will be visiting Rome, Pompeii, Naples and Florence with their mentors.
