Ljubljana forum 2012

On 20 and 21 September 2012, Ljubljana Castle was the venue of the second development conference Ljubljana Forum 2012 on the future of cities on the theme of energy efficiency and being always on-line.

The Ljubljana Forum 2012 conference on Energy efficiency and being always on-line was organised by GFS – the Institute for Geostrategic, Legal and Futuristic Research and the City of Ljubljana in partnership with the Centre for eGovernance Development for South East Europe.

The keynote speakers at the Ljubljana Forum 2012 included global metropolitan trends given by futurologist Jerome C. Glenn, director of the Millennium project. Cases of good practice in city development projects were showcased by the mayors of several European capitals including the host, Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković. Dr Stane Merše of the Energy Efficiency Centre, IJS presented the Energy Efficiency Strategy Ljubljana 2050.

The field of financial incentives and practical instruments was outlined by Anton Rop MSc, Vice President of the European Investment Bank. An overview of sustainable development in cities was given by Dr Barbara Haering, Europe 2030, Econcept & ETH University Zurich and Dr Ibon Zugasti, European Regional Foresight College President.

On Thursday 20 September 2012, Mayor Zoran Janković took part in a Ljubljana Forum 2012 conference round table on ‘Energy Efficiency cities and regions’. The round table also saw participation by Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić, Mayor of Podgorica Dr Miomir Mugoša, Mayor of Priština Dr Isa Mustafa, Mayor of Sarajevo Prof Dr Alija Behmen, Deputy Mayor of Baku Fiduma M. Huseynova and Deputy Mayor of Bucharest Marcel Octavian Nicolaescu. The round table was moderated by Alenka Žumbar Klopčič, director and editor of Energetika.net.
