Ljubljana Forum at the Ljubljana Castle

On 5 and 6 October 2023, the 13th Ljubljana Forum took place at the Ljubljana Castle with the central theme of Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.

This year's forum was dedicated not only to traditional topics such as smart, sustainable, inclusive and resilient development but also to the presentation of new development initiatives with an emphasis on sustainable development, green transition and digital transformation, as well as the creation of cities of well-being. The annual international meeting is an excellent opportunity to exchange good intercity practices and strengthen cooperation for better operation of European cities and regions.

Again at this year's forum, we presented the good practices of Ljubljana, Deputy Mayor Ass. Prof. Rok Žnidaršič gave a presentation titled Redefining Cities for the Future – from Concept to Practice, and the energy manager of the City of Ljubljana, Petra Šeme, made a presentation titled EU Mission 100 Cities: Energy Communities for the Realization of Goals.

At this year's mayors' round table, they talked about the mayors' perspective on »Cities in 2030 – Challenges and Projects«. In addition to Mayor Zoran Janković and Deputy Mayor Boštjan Koritnik, the participants were the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, Mayor of Rijeka, Marko Filipović, Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Anja Margetić, Director of Urban Innovations in Vienna, Dominic Weiss, Director of Budapest City Diplomacy, Janos Kendernay, and representative of the Novi Sad City Council, Zdravko Jelušić.

The participants of the round table focused on the main city challenges related to climate change and how they affect the city, among other things, they also presented crucial city projects.
