The Ljubljana Green Capital website is where we showcase our largest and most interesting activities as we endeavour to become the European green capital. Here, residents of and visitors to our beautiful city have a chance to actively participate and reveal their contribution to the quality of life in the Slovenian capital.

The purpose of the Ljubljana Green Capital website is to highlight the efforts invested in our city by everyone - the population of Ljubljana, City of Ljubljana staff, public companies and institutions. Our city will only remain green and friendly, and of course, the most beautiful city in the world, with the help of each and every one of us.

Ljubljana is running for the title of European Green Capital for the third year in a row. In recent years, the Slovenian capital has seen much development in its City Administration, which has been adhering to new findings and trends in the fields of environmental protection, energy efficiency and sustainable development in general.

Since 2007, when we introduced the Vision of Ljubljana 2025, we have set out to ensure that our city, through the implementation of 93 major infrastructural projects, becomes an ideal city by 2025 with a high quality of life, a cosmopolitan character, high levels of safety and tolerance of differences, with a modern contemporary image of attractive greenery, open and connected to the landscape beyond the city itself.
