On 26 May 2014 Ljubljana has become the 19th member of the Rainbow Cities network, which aims to exchange good practice and experience of LGBT policies.

The City of Ljubljana has been supporting the LGBT community and their activities for years, and has often been recognised as example of good practice. The invitation to the Rainbow Cities network was offered at the Building Bridges Conference organised by the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) with active participation from the City of Ljubljana colleagues to present the examples of good practice in LGBT field.

The City of Ljubljana was the 19th member of the Rainbow Cities network, an informal network with European cities from ten countries. The network aims to exchange good practice and experience with LGBT policies. The representatives from Rainbow Cities meet annually in one of the member cities – this year in November they meet in Vienna. Otherwise they exchange ideas at the network's online forum.
