Ljubljana Quality (LQ) is a trademark identifying the city's restaurants and small shops meeting high standards of quality in terms of choice on offer, service, and facilities.

Restaurants within the wider city area and all kinds of small city centre shops are assessed by anonymous inspectors every two years.

In the centre of Ljubljana you can shop for fashion clothing from both well-known international fashion brands and renowned Slovenian fashion designers, glass and crystal ware, antiques, arts and crafts items and much more.

The shops marked by the LQ sign offer the best selection of goods, the best service and the best ambience according to an expert commission. They are entitled to use the LQ sign for two years from the date of the award announcement.

The Ljubljana Quality project is run by Ljubljana Tourism, the city's tourist board. In 2012, the LQ selection procedure involved the assessment of 455 shops in the centre of Ljubljana.

Restaurants in Ljubljana offer a wide and varied choice of cuisines, from traditional Slovenian and international to various national ones. What is special about eating out in Ljubljana is that a large number of upscale restaurants serve reasonably priced lunchtime menus.

The restaurants marked by the LQ sign are best overall. According to the Ljubljana Quality Commission, they offer not only the best food and service, but also the best ambience and facilities. Awarded restaurants are entitled to use the LQ sign within two years of receiving the award. In most of the award-winning restaurants, LQ certificates are hung on the wall for everyone to see.
