Ljubljana – the most beautiful and most hospitable larger city

As part of the ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’ project, Ljubljana has been rated as the most beautiful and most hospitable larger city in Slovenia.

For a number of years, Slovenian cities and towns have been competing in the Slovenian Tourist Association project ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’ in the fields of upkeep of spaces and the environment and hospitality. This held true for this year’s competition too, run under the honorary patronage of President of Slovenia Dr Danilo Türk.

In the larger Slovenian cities category, the State Commission for the ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’ project gave first prize to Ljubljana on the grounds that “Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, is its political, scientific and cultural centre and at the same time its biggest city and its most important commercial centre. In recent times it has been experiencing a real renaissance in terms of appearance, events and the tourist offer”.

The City of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Tourism public institute are proud to accept the award with a commitment to continuing to improve the city’s tourist offer and raise its quality of life.

The prize will be awarded to Ljubljana at the closing ceremony of the project, at 7pm on 8 December 2011 at the Days of Slovenian Tourism event in Portorož.
