‘Lutke’ puppet Festival 2012

Between 11 and 15 September 2012, Ljubljana is the venue of the 11th International Biennial Puppet Festival LUTKE 2012, as organised for 20 years by Ljubljana Puppet Theatre.

Across five days and a range of Ljubljana Puppet Theatre venues and on the streets of Ljubljana, a total of 26 puppet performances are to be staged, while the accompanying programme also includes exhibitions, musical performances and an audio-kinetic installation at Ljubljana Castle.

Guest artists this year are drawn from 19 countries: Hungary, Great Britain, Spain, Israel, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Estonia, Holland, Italy, Columbia, Switzerland, Canada and Slovenia.

The festival's official programme was conceived by the puppet and film director Jan Zakonjšek, set designer Branko Hojnik and Ljubljana Puppet Theatre acting artistic director Ajda Rooss. It covers quality as well as author, genre, technical and content versatile performances, thus broadening the puppets’ reference space and confirming the infinite and unimaginable possibilities of their expression.
