Mayor of Belgrade at the City Hall

On Wednesday, 12 September 2018, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the new Mayor of Belgrade Prof Dr Zoran Radojičić and his delegation at the City Hall.

For the Mayor of Belgrade, who was elected on 7 June this year, this was his first visit abroad.

Mayor Zoran Janković is pleased that both cities are going to continue their long-lasting friendly relations and cooperation in many areas under the leadership of the new mayor. In his words, the teams heading both cities are focusing their attention on ensuring the high quality of life of citizens. In Ljubljana we are always willing to share our good practice cases and that is why we are happy that Belgrade wants to follow our example in the field of sustainable development.

The Mayor of Belgrade added that they mostly talked about how Ljubljana managed to turn into one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and the world, and how we were able to reach our environmental goals and win the title European Green Capital 2016. Namely, Belgrade, too, wants to be a green city and develop just like Ljubljana, and that is why they used their visit to learn about our good practices and methods of applying them to Belgrade.

The mayors signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation and transfer of knowledge and experience between Ljubljana and Belgrade with regard to Belgrade running for the European Green Capital title.
