Mayor of cleveland on an official visit to city hall
On Tuesday 10 May 2011, Mayor of Cleveland Frank G. Jackson paid an official visit to Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Jankovič.
On this occasion, the two mayors signed a renewed partnership accord between Ljubljana and Cleveland. The intention behind the signature of the renewed accord between the cities is to relaunch co-operation between Ljubljana and Cleveland, which has been inactive recently. The letter of intention to co-operate, which established partnership relations between the cities, was signed by the then Mayors of Ljubljana and Cleveland on 25 July 1975.
The Cleveland city delegation, under the leadership of Mayor Frank G. Jackson, was in Slovenia between 7 and 13 May. During their time in Slovenia, they met the highest elected representatives of local government (Ljubljana, Koper, Piran, Bled and Maribor), various ministers, parliamentarians, and representatives of the worlds of commerce, culture and civil society. They also visited the National University Library, the University Medical Centre and Ljubljana University. A business breakfast was also organised during their visit by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia.
On Monday 9 May, Mayor of Cleveland Frank G. Jackson also attended a lecture at the Ljubljana Faculty of Law.
